IT Built for Architecture & Engineering Firms — Not any SMB's

From deadline risk to day-one onboarding to CMMC-adjacent cybersecurity — we understand the tools, the deadlines, and the compliance pressure unique to AEC firms in the DMV.

Architecture and civil engineering firms don't need "IT support" in the generic sense — they need a technology partner who understands that a slow file, a version mix-up, or an unmonitored system can cost a bid, delay a stamped submission, or put a federal contract at risk. TeamLogic IT of Reston & Tysons works inside the tools this industry actually runs on — Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Deltek — and builds our services around the specific moments your firm can least afford a failure: the 48 hours before a submission, the first week of a new hire, and the compliance requirements that come with government-adjacent work.

Pillar 1 - Deadline Risk

Never Miss a Deadline Because of a Computer Problem

Senior staff burning unpaid overtime to avoid losing a bid. Nobody sure "who has the latest file." A plot job that jams the night before a submission. These are the moments The Deadline Certainty System is built for.

What it includes:

  • A free, 30-minute Deadline Risk Assessment — measured against your actual next deadline, not a generic checklist
  • The Certainty Build — version control so nobody asks which file is current, network and backup tuned for large CAD/Revit files, and day-one access setup for new hires
  • Deadline Certainty, Ongoing — quarterly monitoring re-tuned around your firm's actual submission calendar, not a generic uptime metric

Why it matters: Staff can lose 10–15 hours per person per week hunting for the right file version — recovering even a fraction of that is hours returned to billable, deadline-facing work.

Deadline Risk

Pillar 2 - New-Hire Onboarding

Productive on Day One, Not Week Three

New hires who take months to become useful don't relieve capacity strain — they add to it. We make sure a new employee's software environment is ready to work the morning they log in, so the only thing left to slow them down is company-side onboarding, not IT.

What it includes:

  • Pre-staged Revit, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD environments ready before a new hire's start date
  • File and project-archive access configured on day one, not day three
  • A self-scoring New-Hire IT Onboarding Checklist firms can run internally to spot gaps before they cost ramp-up time

Honest note: AutoCAD environments take longer to pre-stage than Revit or Bluebeam, so hitting the same day-one-ready outcome depends on getting more lead time before a new hire's start date. This is confirmed for Revit, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD workflows — not yet verified for Deltek-based environments.

New Hiring Onboarding

Pillar 3 - Network Tuning for Large Files

Built for Revit Models and CAD Files, Not Spreadsheets

Generic IT providers benchmark their networks against office documents and email. AEC firms live and die by how fast a 500 MB Revit model opens, how a plot job performs under deadline pressure, and whether five people can work in the same file at once without the network becoming the bottleneck.

What it includes:

  • SMB File Share Performance Audit — a full technical benchmark of your network and file share against AEC-specific latency thresholds: baseline network statistics, standardized disk I/O benchmarks, and real-world large-file transfer testing that mirrors an actual CAD/BIM project tree
  • Remediation for the misconfigurations that most commonly slow AEC firms down — legacy SMB protocol settings, disabled multichannel/RSS, missing jumbo frames, antivirus scanning every read of a Revit model, and more
  • A before/after report so you can see exactly what changed and why

Why it matters: These aren't generic "is the internet slow" complaints — they're measured against thresholds built specifically for large CAD/BIM workloads, so you know whether your network is actually a liability before it costs you a deadline.

Cybersecurity, CMMC & Regulatory Compliance

Cybersecurity Built for Firms Doing Government-Adjacent Work

Architecture and engineering firms working on federal, defense, or government-adjacent projects face a cybersecurity compliance landscape that's genuinely in motion right now — and we track it so you don't have to.

Where things stand today (as of August 2026):

  • If your firm handles Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) or Federal Contract Information (FCI) as part of a DoD-related contract, the underlying cybersecurity obligations — protecting that data and reporting cyber incidents within 72 hours under DFARS 252.204-7012 — remain fully in force (Eide Bailly; DoW CIO memo 26-P-1023).
  • CMMC Level 1 and Level 2 self-assessments, tied to NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 2 controls, are still mandatory for contracts that require them (Reuters; SBA.gov).
  • On July 13, 2026, the Department of War suspended the rollout of CMMC Phase 2 — the requirement for mandatory third-party (C3PAO) audits — pending a 60-day program review, with recommendations expected around mid-September 2026 (Federal News Network; Reuters).
  • That pause is narrow: it does not eliminate the requirement to protect CUI, and prime contractors can still require their subcontractors to hold third-party certification as a matter of their own private agreements, independent of the DoD's pause (SmallGovCon).

What we help with:

  • Implementing and managing the day-to-day technical controls that map to NIST SP 800-171 — multi-factor authentication, endpoint detection and response, patch management, encrypted and tested backups, and security awareness training
  • Ongoing monitoring so your cybersecurity posture doesn't quietly drift out of alignment between now and your next contract renewal or audit
  • Keeping your environment audit-ready for whenever a formal assessment, self-assessment submission, or certification review comes up
